4Fun Tournament Rules

The following is 4Fun's Tournament Games Rules

1. Pairings Time - Players have 3 min to make table for singles and 5 min for doubles after pairings are posted in lobby. If their opponent is asked to make table due to pairings time being expired then that player will then have the right to 1st seat choice. The exception to this would be if a hosting TD is the inviter and cannot make due to having too many tables open. In this instance you will be asked to make and invite but not sit. If a player is MIA at time of pairings the time they are put on timer is pairings time.

2. Tables - All our tables are to be made Private and Rated (unless otherwise specified).

3. Read Rules - It is YOUR responsibility to read the rules in the tournaments that you join. All rules pertaining to that tournament will be on the rules page. That includes rules pertaining to MIA timers, etc. PLEASE READ THEM. If you do not understand the rules, ASK the TD BEFORE you begin the game. Absolutely NO restarts will be allowed because someone did not understand the rules of the game being played.

4. Game Length Time - In order to keep things moving along, we have a time limit on our games : 45 minutes for singles, 60 minutes for doubles and 15 minutes for speed - type games. If a game goes the full time allotted, game is to be called at the end of the current hand being played.

5. Force Forfeiting - No Force Forfeiting games in league or tournaments. FF'ing on your opponent will get you 7 days in the box automatically with no warning given.

6. 2 Games Only - Players are only allowed to join in 2 League/Tournament Games at one time. This includes Race Days. If you are found to be in more than two at a time, this includes non-league games and games in other lobbies, the staff will disqualify you from the game/tournament that least affects other players. If the game you are disqualified in is a league doubles you will be required to report the losses to both your opponents. If you are found to be doing this a lot, more drastic measures will be taken.

For at least February and March 2012, it is acceptable to be in 3 games at one time if one of the games is a doubles tournament. If this is found to be successful, it will be adjusted in our rules permanently.

6a. Disqualification Setup - If you are found to be in more games than allowed, you will be DQ'd out of one of them, however you will be offered a choice of what game you prefer to be DQ'd out of. We can only give a choice if you are in more than 1 singles game, or if all the games are doubles. If there is a large difference in the score and you are losing, you will be asked to FF upon yourself for the DQ.

7. Partners - In Doubles you can partner in two tournaments at the same time/same partner. But you cannot be on any other table(s) with that same person other than a tournament unless a TD (3rd party) is present. You cannot be in 2 LEAGUE GAMES with the same person. If you find you are playing a league game with the same person that is your partner in a doubles tournament, please invite the TD of the tournament to the league game. Please note that all game play should be stopped until TD is present at the table if there is no Staff member available to watch the league game, then your League game needs to be canceled.

8. Boots - In a tournament you are allowed 3 boots from Yahoo (on the 4th boot you will be DQ'd) or 10 minutes (5 minutes for speed and doubles games in progress) of missing time whichever comes 1st. In a doubles, after that allocated time, the TD will find a sub to finish the game; speed tournaments have a 5 minute MIA timer. MIA's are not to be used as an excuse for holding up tournament play.
There must be one original player in the doubles game in order to find a sub if one player goes MIA

9. BRB - Players are allowed only 3 be right backs during a game. If you are gone for 3 mins, an MIA timer will be started from the time you said BRB. This time will count towards your total MIA time allowed.

10. Slow Play - Deliberate slow playing in tournament games will NOT be tolerated. Players will receive 2 slow play warnings and be DQ'd on the third slow play warning. Staff will first check and make sure the member is ok and ask them to speed up, if the member doesn't speed up staff will check their playing time if they are taking over 45 seconds per turn they will issue a slow play warning if the member continues to play slow the TD will issue another slow play warning and after the 2nd slow play warning if the player continues to play slow they will be DQ'd from the game.
Please note bad ping is not considered slow play.

11. Kibitz - All of our games are played at PRIVATE tables. Because of this, a TD should NEVER kibitz UNLESS they are hosting Naked Nasta or another game on our TD Help page that requires Kibitz on. Doubles will NOT be Kibitzed unless a TD was approached with a suspicion of cheating by a member in which case an Admin (or HTD if not Admin are available) will kibitz all tables in the tournament. Please make sure that the tables are PRIVATE so that there is no way that another player can come in and kibitz.
Refusing to turn on kibitz will result in your team being disqualified from the tournament and placed in the box for 3 days.

12. Table Talk - NO TABLE TALKING (anything about cards or game hands) during league or tournament doubles games. Asking 'out p?' is ok, but please limit answers to either yes or no. Anything that could affect how the hand is played is considered table talking. If the TD feels that someone has table talked they will issue a warning if the player continues to table talk then the team will be disqualified.

13. Timers - In doubles tournaments, the timer to get a sub is 5 minutes, if game has already started (10 minute timer if game has not started. If a player does not return after the MIA timer runs out, then the TD is to go to lobby and get a sub (taking the first person who volunteers). If the player returns before the game is over, the sub will finish the hand that is being played and let original player have their seat back. If the sub starts the game and the original player returns, the original player resumes play in the next round if their team advances.

PLEASE NOTE:If the TD cannot find a sub in the lobby after 3 mins of asking, then the TD will sit and finish out the hand regardless if the TD is already playing (if TD is playing on that table, they must still search for a sub).

14. Disqualifications - Everyone does it from time-to-time. On some DQ's staff may make a call for game to continue if the score of the player who did not DQ is over 3800, or if there is a wide margin between the scores. When a DQ happens, members are to STOP playing and allow the TD time to verify the DQ. If there is a dispute to the DQ an Admin (or HTD if no Admin available) may be called to table to assist the TD with the call. The decision made will be final and failure to cancel could lead to boxing.

If you have a dispute to any call made in a game you should screen shot the issue and submit it to the Head Admin. Disqualifying on purpose is not allowed and will be reported. If a member has too many DQ's on purpose reports on them they will be warned. If it continues they will be boxed.

15. Losing Badly - If you find yourself in a game and you are losing badly, you MAY NOT cancel the game. If you wish to get out of that game, you need to invite the hosting TD to the table and inform them of what you want to do. If the TD agrees, you will be asked to FORFEIT ON YOURSELF, which will give the win and Yahoo rating points to your opponent.

PLEASE NOTE: The hosting TD MUST say it is okay to give the win. If the TD does not OK this, then you will be reported and boxed for 1 day. If this turns out to be a repetitive problem, the Admins reserve the right to box for longer (10 days - 30 days).

16. 3800 Rule Doubles/Singles - In ALL games in 4Fun, if a player or team has gone MIA and timed out, subs will finish the game out if present player(s) score is 3800 or more. All games with a score less than 3800 will be cancelled. (Doubles games that result in BOTH players MIA and timed out will require TWO staff subs).

17. MIA -close to end of game- Singles - In a singles tournament, if a player goes MIA with 1 card remaining to be drawn, TD will run a 5 minute timer. If after 5 minutes the player has NOT returned, the hosting TD will sit and draw the last card to finish the game.

18. Accusations of Cheating - If you suspect a player or team has cheated in a game against you, PLEASE notify an admin about this and DO NOT take it public either at the table or to the lobby. If you are caught accusing a person or team you will be placed in the box for 1 day the 1st time, 3 days the 2nd time, and 7 days the 3rd time as well as for all further offenses.

19. Cheating/Messaging your Partner - You are NOT to contact your partner about your cards or the game in any way during a doubles game (tournament or league). Anyone found to be messaging their partner about their cards during a game will be disqualified and boxed and a sub gotten. If your partner responds to the message the entire team will be DQ'd and both parties boxed. If someone attempts to cheat by messaging you, it is your responsibility to notify Admin RIGHT AWAY! If we receive numerous reports of cheating against you, consequences can range from warnings, to being placed on same household list, to boxing or even being kicked from the league depending on the number and severity of the complaints. Boxings can result in 1-90 days depending on the content of the messages that are received by admin.

20. Stay at table till TD says GG - Please wait for the TD to get to the table before starting your game. Do not leave the table until the TD has said GG. They must be able to see the score and verify the win. Both parties are to stay until the TD has said GG. Repeated occurrences of leaving table before TD says GG will be considered a rule violation and could be punished by boxing.

21. Musical Chairs - If you join a MUSICAL CHAIRS tournament please do not play in any other tournament/game. This is because with having to sit and stand constantly it will cause a delay and confusions in play.
